Top tips for having fun at the beach.

You can’t come to Cornwall and not have a day at the beach. With over 400 gorgeous beaches to choose from you will be spoilt for choice. Here are our top tips for having fun at the beach.

Take a pop up tent not only do they protect children and dogs from the sun, but also offer somewhere to store all your belongings.

Take a waterproof bag with you. These are ideal for bringing home any wet sandy clothes you may have.

Arrive early to get a good spot on the beach. Near the lifeguard huts is perfect, it’s easy for children to remember where you are in case they get lost whilst playing.

Be sun safe. Reply sun cream often and plentiful, especially after being in the sea. Wear a hat and sunglasses and take shade during the hottest part of the day.

Baby powder is a really simply way of removing sand from delicate skin of babies and toddlers. Apply a small amount and it rubs the sand away quickly and gently.

It’s a good idea to take a cooler box or a freezer bag to keep food and drink cool in the sun.

Most cornish beaches allow dogs, for this to continue always remember to clean up any dog mess straight away.

Always take note of the lifeguards advice and warnings. The Cornish sea can and does change in an instance.
Red Flag- Dangerous. Do not enter the sea.
Yellow and red flag- Safe to swim.
Black and white flag – surfboards and kayaks only.

Finally please make sure to leave the beach responsibility. Take all rubbish home with you. Many beaches now have stations which encourages you to reduce your plastic waste and offers somewhere for you to recycle. Make sure all BBQ’s or campfires are completely out and disposable BBQ’s are disposed off safety.
