Witches, ghosts, ghouls and all things that go bump in the night!!!! My little monsters love nothing more than running, climbing, going on rides and as it’s halloween, getting a scare or two. Here are our top ideas for some seriously spooky fun for Halloween and the half term break.
Cornwall Crealy – certainly ticks all these boxes for us. www.crealy.co.uk/Cornwall is only five minutes down the road from Music Water Touring Park and is open daily from 24-31 October. Crealy during this time transforms into Hallowfest and has plenty to keep your little monsters entertained from pumpkin carving, spooky games, trick or treating and even the chance to meet the spooky Crealy Witch in her grotty Grotto. Just don’t forget to enter the spooky haunted castle to really give your little monsters an extra scare!!
The Eden Project –https://www.edenproject.com is another truly magical spooky experience, our kids love this one, from potion brewing and face painting to seeing amazing owls from the owl sanctuary. You can enter the awesome witch tent and see a spooky puppet show, do pumpkin carving and even travel the Tunnel of Terror!! The Monsters Ball on 31st October at £7 per head is a fancy dress disco that will really send a chill down your spine!
DairyLand Farmworld – www.dairylandfarmworld.com offers a traditional farm yard and play barn with a spooky twist, with plenty of animals and the huge indoor play area if it’s rainy. DairyLand offers their own version of potion making, mask making and pumpkin carving as well as terrifying treasure trails.
Newquay Zoo – www.newquayzoo.org.uk is another good one to try at halloween, the zoo has over 130 of the world’s rare and exciting creatures including the Lions and Tropical House. The children can burn off energy in the play area and in the dragon maze. The gem for Halloween though, happens on the 31st October with the zoo’s Halloween carnival party. It offers some spooktacular fun like trick or treat trails, witches brew and gruesome gruel!!
Halloween of course, is not just for kids so how about some seriously spooky ghost hunting for adults?
Jamaica Inn – www.jamaicainn.co.uk on Bodmin Moor is an acclaimed smugglers inn made famous by the Daphne du Mauriers ‘Jamaica’ Inn novel. The Inn is full of legend, mystery and according to folklore, a ghost or three!! It has a shop, smuggler’s museum and serves great food and local beers/ wines.
Bodmin Jail – www.bodminjail.org is another chilling place to visit if you’re in the mood for ghost hunting. Visit the dark dank cells of the jail and if you are feeling really brave, how about taking part in the overnight paranormal ghost walks. You get to visit both the main civil prison and the Naval prison and you never know what or who you might see!! Seriously though, not for the faint hearted!
